Hot Jazz and Cool Popsicles

Hot Jazz and Cool Popsicles: Two ingredients for a great family afternoon are mixing in Middleburg soon. The ever-popular Dixie Rhythm jazz band will return to Emmanuel Church’s Parish House porch to regale the audience with their toe-tapping repertoire of Dixieland favorites on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. They will be accompanied by The Little Pop Truck, which sells handcrafted popsicles.

The performance is part of the “At The Parish House” performance series at 105 E. Washington St., Middleburg. Chairs under tents will await on the lawn. If the weather looks dodgy, the concert will be held inside the Parish House.

For more than 20 years, the Dixie Rhythm band has delighted area audiences with classics like “Basin Street Blues,” “Tiger Rag,” “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” and, of course, “When the Saints Go Marching In.” The band interlaces musical numbers with historical notes, corny jokes and funny stories. It’s a timeless Sunday afternoon adventure for all ages!

These musicians each began playing as youngsters, and continue today singing, performing, and instructing in schools, churches, community centers, and wherever their musical passions take them. To reserve a seat, call 540-687-6297. A $10 donation is suggested, but no one is turned away. Chocolate-dipped strawberry popsicle, anyone?
